15th July 2023 – Esher Library – Author Event

To celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge, The Tap-dancing Pigeon of Covent Garden and I were invited to Esher Library for our interactive storytelling, eco craft, and ventriloquism event!

What a wonderful event and I sold some books too! Such lovely enthusiastic children and smiley adults, just what an author needs to feel love!

Wordicle – Authors Leak

I was invited to write an article called an ‘Authors Leak’ by a cool website called ‘The Wordicle’.

This was to discuss the back story behind my children’s book ‘The Tap-Dancing Pigeon Of Covent Garden’.

I found this really exciting to write.

Privileged to receive this B.R.A.G Medallion Honoree Award!

Hi everyone,

I have some really exciting news. I have been selected for a B.R.A.G Medallion Award by the Book Readers Appreciation Group. Here are some comments about ‘The Tap-Dancing Pigeon Of Covent Garden’.

This is the first children’s book I have reviewed and I am so glad I did (even on a kindle the pages are cute and fun to follow). The pigeon I adorable and the story was catchy and the ending.. too funny. Not how I expected it to end.  I would recommend this book to everyone that will listen (that has younger kids, or like my grandkids).

The characters have a charming appeal. I particularly enjoyed the alterations and onomatopoeia which make the book a good candidate for a read-aloud story. Jon Davis’ illustrations combine soft colours with powerful facial expressions that convey both the message and the humour within the story. This book gives children an opportunity to tour a bit of London, develop self-confidence and be entertained in one read. Recommended for preschool through second grader readers.

Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day – April 22nd 2020

I believe it is my duty to inform young children about climate change and plastic pollution through the medium of children’s stories. I was so excited and felt honoured when talented author Bibiana Krall said she would like to mention me in an article she had prepared for Earth Day 2020.

You can read this article here: https://www.bibianakrall.com/post/earth-day-2020

I hope you are all safe and well in these very strange lockdown times!

Take care,

Serena
