After my interactive storytelling with Esher Church School, I asked the children to create their very own ‘eco pigeons’, out of household rubbish. I was most impressed to be sent these amazing creations. I decided to create this hashtag #Create-your-own-eco-pigeon for all of the eco pigeons I receive.
The 4th winner of ‘The Tap-Dancing Pigeon Of Covent Garden’ competition is Nia Lewis, aged 4! Pigeon and I loved her beautiful ballerina. How clever to use a loo roll and a tooth pick to help her stand up on her own. Nia will receive a signed copy of my book as soon as the snail post can deliver.
Nothing ventured nothing gained. What a great saying. The Tap-Dancing Pigeon and I are thrilled to announce that we have been invited to Sharjah to take part in their annual children’s reading festival in April from 13th to 17th April. I will have the chance to inspire children to fulfil their dreams, live in the moment, believe in themselves and visit their schools and perhaps be not he radio and television. I feel honoured.
Wednesday 13th November, Pigeon and I were invited to Esher Church School. We were greeted by a crowd of 180 smiley and curious faced children, at their Year 1, 2 and 3 assembly. For the first time ever my nerves were silent. i do believe that practice is really important. Prepare with perfect pigeon precision before any pigeon performance! Afterwards the children asked some questions like:
How did you come up with the idea?
Why Covent Garden?
I felt really good afterwards. I feel like I can do anything now. I will continue to strive to spread the word about how important it is for children to understand the following messages:
Pigeon and 1 had our first book reading at Toddlestop, a toddler group in Esher Baptist Church. It was a really nice experience. I read ‘The Tap-Dancing Pigeon Of Covent Garden‘ and then the children had the opportunity of making their very own pigeon puppets!
Pigeon and I had the wonderful opportunity of being on the Jo Good Show on BBC Radio London with Margaret, the owner of the independent children’s bookshop ‘The Alligators Mouth’ in Richmond.
Celebrating literature and London’s bookshops! Pigeon and I had a superb time discussing bookshop day and chatting about ‘The Tap-Dancing Pigeon Of Covent Garden’ live on the Jo Good Show on Friday 27th September! Jo was kind and full of positive energy! Have a look at our photographs!
